The debate “Terzo settore, a che punto siamo? - Latest developments on the Third Sector Reform” proposed by Sant’Anna School Dirpolis Institute and CESVOT (Association of Voluntary Service in Tuscany) discusses current issues of the third sector reform in the implementation of new organizational models within the area of constitutional law. Under Secretary of State for Labor and Social Policy Steni di Piazza participates in the debate on Friday, February 14, at Sant’Anna School aula magna storica, 3.00 pm. This event, as part of the Sant’Anna School training program on the role of non-profit organizations (in Italy, most nonprofit organizations are constituted as association), contributes to provide an updated evidence review that draw together research and recent initiatives to better understand the effect of the reform and its impact at national level.
“Over the past three years, the non-profit sector has undergone radical transformation along with major changes in our welfare state”, explains Luca Gori, a researcher of Constitutional Law and the Third Sector Reform course coordinator at Sant’Anna School. “We have assessed the non-distribution constraint rule and distributional consequences of the activities of non-profit organizations. We also examined the policy measures that would affect the provision of health services, education and culture by public institutions and associations concentrating on community priority services and secondary benefits such as employment and the production of public goods. Now, we need to focus on effective policy interventions to ensure that non-profit organizations pursue the objectives of consumers, sponsors, and donors. In fact, Italian non-profit organizations include many diverse entities such as foundations, recognized and unrecognized associations, volunteer organizations, social enterprises, social cooperatives, nongovernmental organizations, and mutual benefit societies, thus, a more comprehensive policy intervention is necessary to improve partnership and cooperation between third sector entities and the public sector.”
Journalist Giulio Sensi will moderate the debate. This event is open to students and trainees of 2019-2020 academic year and, it is open to the public. In 2019, the training course on the Third Sector reform organized by Sant’Anna and CESVOT offered 80 teaching hours to 50 students who can now receive their course certificate in this official celebration of their accomplishments.
“I am happy to highlight the social value of the third sector organizations and our 2019-2020 training program that provided an “open list of participants” whose general interest activities included social services, health, education, arts but also social housing, humanitarian reception of migrants. It allowed students to communicate and cooperate as future partners in projects and participate in networks using communication tools such as blog, forum and chat - a true social network.” Luca Gori added.
